Sheykwáw̓txw, meaning House of Clams, is a 6-storey wood-frame housing development designed to provide 203 homes for Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Nation members. The project includes a mix of studio, one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom units, along with amenity space and office space for the Society. The design features a triangular six-storey building that forms a sheltered, sunlit landscaped courtyard opening toward the surrounding neighbourhood. Of the 203 units, 101 are funded through BCH’s IHF program, and the remainder through CMHC’s Affordable Housing Fund.

Located on Seymour IR#2 in what is now known as North Vancouver—once the site of the Ch’ích’élxwi7kw village—the development offers excellent access to transit and recreation, with the Phibbs Transit Exchange just south of the site.

Colonial development on Sḵwx̱wú7mesh lands has created one of the most expensive and constrained housing markets in the world. As the cost of living continues to rise in Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw communities’ historical territory, projects like this one are more important than ever to ensure Sḵwx̱wú7mesh peoples have access to a range of affordable housing options that meet their needs.
