Saanich Affordable Housing Project
104 rent-geared-to-income homes for Urban Indigenous Peoples
LDM is providing full development management services for the ALT Saanich Affordable Housing Project, a 104-unit mixed-use rental development in Saanich’s Uptown–Douglas area, owned and operated by an Indigenous non-profit society. The project will provide much-needed affordable rental housing for the urban Indigenous community and other residents across a range of incomes, addressing a critical housing need within the Capital Region.
Designed as a culturally safe and welcoming space, the building will support multigenerational living and foster the sharing of Indigenous culture, knowledge, and history. The design is based on ALT’s successful 96-unit project Móytel Lalém in what is now known as New Westminster, providing proven efficiencies, design certainty, and schedule benefits.
LAND
Located on the traditional territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples represented by the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations and the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples represented by the Tsartlip, Pauquachin, Tsawout, Tseycum and Malahat Nations, now known as Saanich, BC
The land will be assigned to and purchased by ALT, bringing another parcel of land under Indigenous control for generations to come.

UNITS: 104 new homes
STATUS: Under construction with estimated completion in 2028.
CULTURAL EXPRESSION: The building is designed to reflect a traditional way of communal living, providing opportunities for Elders, families and young people to support and learn from one another. The building design and landscaping will incorporate Indigenous art, Indigenous plants, and other cultural elements.
FUNDING
LDM has supported the Society to secure funding from multiple sources for both capital and operational funds.
