Conayt Affordable Housing
50 affordable homes for Indigenous Elders, singles, and young families
LDM is overseeing the development management and construction claims management for Conayt Affordable Housing. The project will replace existing townhomes on the site, significantly increasing the number of affordable homes available at this location.
The new 5-storey building consists of a mix of 15 one-bedroom, 25 two-bedroom, and 10 three-bedroom units for a total of 50 affordable homes. It will feature cultural expression, a community room and shared indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, and an Elders Room that all support gathering, connection, and everyday life.
These elements are intended to ground the building in place, reflect community stories, and ensure culture is visible, celebrated, and experienced throughout the site, reinforcing Conayt Friendship Society’s long‑standing role as a community hub in the area.
LAND
Located on the traditional territory of the Nlaka'pamux and Syilx people, now known as Merrit, BC.
The project will replace existing townhomes on the site, owned by the Society.

TARGET POPULATION: Designed to house Indigenous Elders, singles, and young families, contributing to meeting the great need for affordable housing in the area.

STATUS: Under construction with estimated completion in 2027.
CULTURAL EXPRESSION: The project will feature a prominent entry sculpture to express Nlaka'pamux culture, identity, and belonging, as well as a curated collection of interior and exterior artworks created in collaboration with local Indigenous artists.
FUNDING
LDM has supported the Society to secure funding for the project.
