Dave Ward
Chief Executive Officer

Dave is nêhiyaw (Cree) from Driftpile Cree Nation in northern Alberta. 

As CEO Dave is actively growing the company’s development projects across Turtle Island, while continuing to champion cultural practices at LDM and leading the day-to-day operations of the LDM Team.  

Since stepping into the CEO role in 2023, Dave has guided the organization through a dynamic period of growth, marked by a significant expansion in Indigenous housing projects across British Columbia. Under his leadership, LDM continues to embody its commitment to an “Indigenous by Indigenous” approach to development management, supporting First Nations and Indigenous non-profits with culturally grounded and community-driven solutions. 

Dave joined LDM in 2021 as a Senior Development Manager, bringing with him more than 30 years of professional experience working alongside Indigenous communities. His background spans housing, Indigenous relations, labour market development, employment training, and human services. Known for his innovative thinking, skilled facilitation, and practical project management, Dave has been a trusted leader in both community and industry settings. 

Before joining LDM, Dave served as Executive Director of Ambrose Place, an innovative transitional and supportive housing facility in Edmonton focused on reconnecting Indigenous people with culture, wellness, and community. He has also worked extensively with private sector partners to build respectful, long-lasting relationships with Indigenous communities—grounded in the Natural Law teachings of Kindness, Honesty, Sharing, and Strength. His recent work includes helping organizations achieve the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB) Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR). 

Dave is proud to be a board member of the Legacy of Hope Foundation, as well as The First Funds Foundation and Lu’ma Native Housing Society's - Aboriginal Advisory Council.  

His academic journey includes Bachelor of Arts program at Mount Royal College in Calgary and studies in Aboriginal Employment Development at Saskatchewan Indian Federated College.
